Step beside the seaside… and step back in time.
What was a day at the theatre like in the Victorian era? With your ticket in hand, you’re invited to take your seat — but first, make sure you’re dressed appropriately!
Inside, the stage comes alive once more with the animals that performed on the stage, through puppetry, music and mayhem they get to perform once more.
NEXT a visit from Charlie Chaplin, lets see if you have what it takes to be a silent movie star!! Using music, mime and comedy you will get to perform a piece of theatre good enough for the Victorian stage.
We explore how things have changed, what you now wear and see at the theatre – and how technology has changed entertainment today.
Ship-Shape workshop 2 hours
Take an immersive workshop on board HMS Victory, through storytelling and puppetry, you will be trained to be a member of the crew on board HMS Victory…you may even get to meet Lord Nelson too.
Then straight into WW1 you are now a sailor on board… HMS M33 and the ship is needed in Gallipolli – take part in the training – its very different isnt it?
Take part in a real life puppet show when their lucky mascot cat is thrown over board!
How has technology changed for the men? We explore the differences and how things changed for sailors on board ships: The food, storage, battles, animals and their uses. How did they communicate to family at home and to other ships?
Plenary – looking at the navy today and think about the way time has changed!
